Deep tissue massage involves applying firm pressure and slow, deep strokes to reach the inner layers of muscle and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles). While this type of massage is not focused specifically on relaxation, it does offer both physical and psychological benefits. Studies show that massage modalities like deep tissue lower blood pressure, stress hormone levels, and heart rate. It also boosts mood and relaxation by triggering the release of oxytocin and serotonin. Deep tissue massage techniques are mainly used for musculoskeletal issues, such as strains and sports injuries, by breaking up the scar tissue that forms following an injury. It may also promote faster healing by increasing blood flow and reducing inflammation.
At Tranquil Touch, massages are designed for more than relaxation. Our practitioners are trained in Medical Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Swedish Massage, Ashiatsu, and more. Medical massage is focused on providing specific, tangible results for your particular health issues and overall wellness.

You and your therapist will go over and determine which type of massage will best benefit your needs.
